Attica\u2019s rapid development has created the misconception that few water and wind-powered installations existed in the region.
\nOlga\u2019s doctoral research aimed to identify, document, and map these structures, enriching the understanding of Attica\u2019s technological history and cultural heritage.
\nUsing historical maps, texts, images, and oral testimonies, the study analysed their distribution, uses, and significance.
\nFieldwork and documentation also recorded related place names and landmarks, concluding with proposals for preserving and promoting Attica\u2019s pre-industrial technology.
\nOlga Lekou, is an architect with a Master’s in monument restoration and a PhD from the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens.
\nHer research, including her undergraduate, Master’s, and doctoral theses, has focused on the restoration and documentation of mills.
\nSince 1996 she has been studying Greek mills and has done much fieldwork and research on them. She has been a member of TIMS since 1997.<\/p>\n
